This system enhancement project consisted of the construction of a bypass around the southwest side of Dodge City. The project connects US 56/US 283 on the south to US 400/US 50/US 50B on the west. The project assisted in alleviating congestion and increasing safety on West Wyatt Earp Boulevard by rerouting truck traffic.
This 3 mile project includes two partial cloverleaf interchanges, two 400’ railroad overpass bridges, one 200’ bridge over a local road and a 1600’ bridge over the Arkansas River. The project was designed as a two lane controlled access highway on a four lane right-of-way. All planning, design and layout was prepared for the ultimate four-lane divided facility.
